Counseling

Reverend Michael Ray, Ph.D. offers pre-marital and family & marriage counseling. He is professionally qualified and trained to deal with the practical challenges of everyday living. He has had psychological and counseling training, but is not a psychiatrist. By the same token, although he has had training in marriage and family counseling, he is not a social worker. The greatest value is that Dr. Ray can help you see your challenge clearly so that you may take appropriate action to solve your need by your own prayerful decision. "I do not make decisions for you, instead, I help you to see your choices and support you in the decision you make concerning your challenge." - Dr. Ray.

One of the best known "secrets" of marital happiness is the ability for the couple to communicate well with one another. Reverend Michael Ray will guide the soon-to-be partners through a series of questions in his Keys to a Lasting Marriage that will help the couple understand each other better. Questions about the number of children you each hope to have, the amount of time you would like to spend at home or out, the chores that you just won't do, etc. Knowing these things in advance and dealing with the issues they bring up in a comfortable, relaxed, yet professional atmosphere gives couples a much stronger foundation for their relationship whether they have just met, or have known each other for years.

In most cases, prior to counseling concerning marital difficulties, Dr. Ray will urge you to insure that both parties are willing to take part in consultations. While there is no doubt that good can come from the individual counseling in such matters, a true healing of the situation usually requires the full cooperation of both the husband and the wife

All information disclosed during time of counseling is held in the strictest of confidence.

If your particular need requires other professional assistance, Dr. Ray will recommend an appropriate individual or agency. Such referrals are frequently part of the local community services, and are recommended so that you may have the best possible aid. On some occasions, Dr. Ray may recommend private, professionally-qualified individuals of whom he has first-hand knowledge. Such referrals will be made only if, in the light of his personal experience, this procedure will be helpful to you. In any case of referral, the choice is yours as to whether or not you seek the assistance.
